As a key member of the Aboriginal Health Program, the Cultural Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing Vancouver Island Health Authority’s Cultural Safety Framework within the health authority. You will assist the organization to meet its goal of enhancing Aboriginal people’s access to VIHA services by working collaboratively with the Professional Development Program, Aboriginal partners, and other stakeholders. The Coordinator will ensure that VIHA meets it commitments to develop and deliver culturally safe services. Qualifications
Along with education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in a health-related discipline from an approved post-secondary institution, you have approximately 5 years of recent experience coaching, mentoring, training and facilitating indigenous cultural competency curriculums and training. Your background includes delivering specialized educational programs and working with Aboriginal people and communities as well as related government agencies and ministries and you also have knowledge of Aboriginal culture-in particular local First Nations culture.

Proven ability to take ownership for assigned responsibilities
• Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing priorities and resource constraints.
